Sju slag til Channuka

= seven kinds for Channuka

It is a Norwegian Christmas tradition to have seven kinds of cookies made for Christmas. In my family we never celebrated Christmas in the house, it was everywhere around us in society, and also mom's family is Christian and so we had our fair share of Christmas, but not at home. At home we celebrated Channuka at this time of the year. And what a wonderful thing that the two are so close in time so that in my house my mother would make seven kinds of the traditional Norwegian Christmas cookies for Channuka!

This is a tradition I don't want to be without (hey, I'll take any good excuse for making sweet and delicious food!), and so I started the preparations Sunday. Clearly, these are not traditional Norwegian Christmas cookies exactly... But I thought I would make things I really would like to eat and share with good friends and family. I've only used a "little" chocolate, hihi ;) And these are definitely less hassle to make (and you don't need your own krumkakejern!)

So far I've made five out of seven kinds, above you see the chocolate covered roasted hazelnuts, and the rest you can see below. I haven't decided yet what the two remaining are going to be, but I figure I have another seven days to figure that out!

chocolate butter balls

chocolate coffee truffles

coconut macaroons with chocolate base

oatmeal, chocolate and dried cherry cookies
