By grasping the moment in such a way we not only lift up that very moment into greater existence and meaning, but we are able to lift up other parts of our lives and see the beauty in the everyday, in the trivial things.
I strive to make my life more than it is. To always make it more. To lift it to another level, so that I can continue to grow. So that my everyday and all the small things which need doing can take on greater life. To have a purpose of all the trivialities beyond them being 'laundry' or 'cucumber salad' or other similarly seemingly unimportant pieces in my life. By identifying the individual items and actions and seeing them closely, lifting them up through recognizing their being and my being engaged in them, and recognizing the fact that they have intrinsic meaning, beauty and positivity, I am able to recognize that not inly in them, but in me.
Finding meaning in one's existence can be challenging. Does my living have any intrinsic meaningfulness? Who am I to say what I am worth? Is my life worth more than somebody else's? But it isn't about more or less than somebody else. It is about finding the beauty and meaning in one's own. And the intrinsic value each and every one of us has in this world. And this is sometimes easier to remember when we remember that doing the laundry is intrinsically meaningful. Or remembering that the laundry in and of itself has a greater meaning for which we should be grateful. By seeing the smallest thing and identifying it, seeing it, truly and saying: You mean something, you are worth everything, we understand that we too mean something in the world, we too are worth everything.
But it can be hard. Sometimes it seems impossible to not feel worthless, taken for granted. That all the things one does are unseen by others, and in the grand scheme of things disregarded as 'the small stuff', not worthy of recognition; that you are not worthy of recognition because what you do are all the small, insignificant things.
However today is not one of these days. Today is a day when it is less hard to see beyond the triviality of the little things, so right now I stop for a little while. I sit quietly and I say: 'Thank you. My life has meaning. My life is beautiful. I am grateful for all which I have. I am grateful to be so fortunate. I am truly blessed.'
