Getting older, I guess

A couple of months ago I was at IKEA and I started chatting with the woman who was in line to pay behind me. She had a whole trolley full of rolls of linen fabric and tons of small vases. I had to ask her what on earth she was doing with all of it. She told me she was making table cloths and napkins for her son's confirmation. The rest of the conversation went something like this:

Me: Oh, that will be beautiful.
Her: Thank you.
Me: Will you decorate with something else as well?
Her: Yes, we will have individual flowers in the vases you see here. I think it will all be green, off-white and orange.
Me: That is a great idea. It sounds like it will be very stylish.
Her: Are you also planning a confirmation for your children now?

Me (thinking to myself): What the heck???!!! - children ready for confirmation??? How old does she think I am??? How old do I look, really??!! I am only 31, do I really have that many wrinkles? DO I LOOK THAT OLD??!! Shoot, where is my make-up and I need to remember to start exercising so I don't look like I have 15 year old children!! Maybe I should make more references to 'y0ung things' - but what on earth are they???

Me: (answering her): No, I don't have any children yet....

Ooops!
