Garden bliss

My attempts at "gardening" have been.. well, let's just be honest and say less than successful. The beautiful lemon tree my mother gave me, I killed a couple of times until finally it was just a dry stick in the dirt. The elephant foot my friends gave me went to a better place a long time ago. But these days, I think due to a combination of not going away all the time and actually watering the plants (who knew consistency was so important, right?), they are now living happier lives.

Even the aloe vera plant, which my mother took the initiative to move to a bigger pot is thriving - it is blossoming for the second year in a row. Last year we were away and missed seeing the beautiful flower it has. This year - we are so enjoying it!

And in this pot, which once housed a bigger plant than it does now, I tried to sow some very old baby lettuce seeds. The birds were having a field day when I put the pot back, and they were having a wonderful time eating most of the seeds. But, we should not underestimate the, granted very, very few seeds that survived. And looksy - hopefully there will be a not very filling, but very delicious salad with salad leaves from our very own garden in a few weeks time!
